DETERMINANTS OF USERS´ INTENTION TO PAY FOR IMPROVED WATER SERVICES IN RURAL DR CONGO

ABSTRACT: Water policy makers across Sub-Saharan Africa have emphasized the need to improve understanding of users´ intention pay for safe water services in order achieve financial sustainability. Community demand payable provision will be critical implementation an effective revenue collection system that ensures long-term financing schemes. This investigation examines community´s seven schemes rural DRC. A cross-sectional survey 1253 households has been implemented assess user´s perceptions and a logistic regression model employed analyse association between nine hypothesized drivers. The analysis reveal main factors affecting stated are reliability supply, sense ownership trust among peer resource users. No evidence was found on potential relationship with time access improved source participation management meetings. These findings relevant authorities, NGOs development agents designing policies endorse sustainable service provision.
